Do you have a neighbor or acquintance you refer to as the perfect mom, the "Martha Stewart" mom, or as your local "homemaker of the year?" It's the great goal, to be sure. Who among us doesn't sometimes wish we had everything in our lives a little more organized or put together. As for me, I'd love to be the mom giving the kids those perfectly-baked, homemade snicker-doodle cookies for a snack...instead of being the one trying to pacify my offspring with the new and exciting Pop-Tart flavor release. The truth is...I'm more whack-a-doodle than snicker-doodle. Here's where I take my own parental office. I tell my daughters that all they need to do is "their own best" and it will be good enough for me. Likewise, I hope my "own best" at being their mom will be good enough, too. To be fair, I have both successes and failures in this mommy journey. And a lot of the twists and turns make for an amusing story. Need a laugh?
